71BODIES is a transgender inclusive dance and performance company based in Bergen, Norway. The company was created by Daniel Mariblanca at the beginning of his gender transition out of an urgency to both understand and document the complexities that lie within the transgender identity.
Born in Barcelona, Daniel Mariblanca began his dance career after graduating from the L’Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. After 17+ years dancing professionally around Europe, Daniel moved to Norway to join Carte Blanche, The Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance. After seven years, has taken on the full time responsibility of Artistic Director of 71BODIES.
In the upcoming production, The Basement, by 71BODIES, the audience is invited into a fictional space based on true events.
